In current time, spying and hacking activities are evolving rapidly that makes many users victim without their awareness. Now the question of users is how to make secure Smartphone and the answer is ENCRYPTION. Encryption is a technology that creates a safe environment around your website or Smartphone.

In this article, we will reveal few things, which make your Smartphone, secure embedding with encryption.

Locking screen: For simple steps, user can use PIN, pass phrase, swipe pattern, voice recognition or face recognition or any lock screen widget. With these entire efforts user can secure his phone from unauthorized access. The screen will show the operator name, date and time, temperature, battery life after locking phone screen. Encryption: Smartphone offers encryption option in many models whether you have iPhone, Android, or Window phone. It is better to encrypt most of your data, the information appears on phone screen will be of no use if your data is encrypted. Let us look systematically at how the dissimilar phones let you to encrypt your private information.

Android Encryption: Encryption may take long time depending on how much data is to be encrypted on user’s phone. If a user interrupts the encryption process then, user may loss some data. Before starting a process, user must have a lock screen PIN or password set up otherwise android will not allow user to encrypt the data. The rest process is discussed below:

Note: If user wants to encrypt an external SD card, he may choose “Encrypt external SD card” option on the security screen. User can encrypt either the whole card or some part of it.

Remember whenever user turns phone on, he will have to enter password to decrypt the data every time. This process requires six-character password including one numerical. Plug-in your phone if user has not plugged-in it. Before encrypting data, a warning message will appear. Moreover, after reading the warning click on Encrypt Phone tab. Depending on your data, it will take long time to encrypt user’s data. BitLocker itself creates keys to decrypt the data and it applies AES (Advanced Encryption Standard).

After the process is completed, phone’s device storage will be encrypted. While rebooting your phone enter password each time and do not forget your password.

iPhone Encryption: For iPhone users, they just have to set a passcode for data protection. When a user turns on his phone, he will have to enter passcode to unlock it. IMessages, mail messages, attachment, and other app available at apple store use data protection.

If anyone try to reveal the passcode after ten failed attempts, all settings are rearrange, and all the information and data is erased by removing the encryption key to the data. For that go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock and tap Erase Data. Even when user wants to back up his data to his computer via iTunes app, he can encrypt all the data.

Window Phone Encryption: Window phone uses BitLocker encryption system that provides encryption to the entire device or volume data to protect the reliability of an authenticate boot path. What is stored on SD card will not be encrypted but the data on phone will be covered under encryption. The SD card can only store music and videos. There is no tick box for turning on BitLocker encryption in window phone.

From the above discussion, it is clear that android is the best OS providing the finest job of encrypting data. It can encrypt the entire device including SD card, as window phone is not able to encrypt the SD card while there is no facility in iPhone for SD card.
