We recently covered the announcement of the LG Optimus G2 and a picture has now been leaked. As always, the leak comes from Twitter user @evleaks with another quality leaked image. This could be the base of the Nexus 5 as the Optimus G was in-fact the base of the Nexus 4. If you check out the picture above you’ll see that the device actually looks rather nice (to me though, it looks like a Samsung Galaxy S4) and there appears to be no buttons, which again is Google’s style! I’m personally not a big fan of no buttons what so ever, I prefer capacitive buttons such as the HTC One X.
The Korea Times has also reported that the Nexus 5 will be based off of the Optimus G2. Some of the specs we’re hearing for the LG Optimus G2 include the Snapdragon 800 processor which does include recording 4k ultra HD video. There’s also a possibility that there will be a flexible OLED display as the Korean giant has been best standing to release a flexible display first. LG is really looking to blow us away with the Optimus G2, which is what they need to do. Especially if they want to compete with the likes of Samsung in the US.
The Optimus G2 isn’t supposed to be announced until this fall, which would probably be shortly before the Nexus 5 launch and the next version of Android. So far there’s nothing confirmed, but @evleaks has a pretty good track record with leaks. He’s been right many more times than he’s been wrong. In fact, I can only remember him being wrong once.
We’re all excited about the Nexus 5, and if this is what the Nexus 5 will be based off, I think Google and LG will have a treat in store for us. The phone in that picture does look to have a 5-inch or larger display, but we have no idea if it actually is or not.
So what do you think? Would you buy a Nexus 5 based off of this device?
